It’s a chemical exfoliant. What’s in it?? Some kind of acid...

Ok here’s the actual write up:

<span face=""Work Sans", sans-serif" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(105, 114, 123); color: #69727b; font-size: 16px;">Exfoliates, clarifies & calms. Tetrapeptide-30 & Niacinamide enhance pigment reduction, repair & nourish. Clears blocked pores & dead skin cells whilst accelerating cellular renewal with lactic, glycolic & salicylic acids in combination with potent anti-oxidant properties of Pomegranate enzyme also aiding hormonal imbalances. Reveals new healthy luminous skin, that feels soft, hydrated & plumped.

So acid sounds extreme to put on your face amiright? But these are “good” acids... yada yada I don’t know the chemistry or the technical stuff behind it, but I know that they are a very popular form of exfoliation at the moment, and this one works for me.

So you pop this on (sparingly... a little goes a very long way) after cleansing, and then pop your moisturiser on top. Rather than physically scraping off dead skin with little granules like the old school exfoliants, the serum umm eats them away? I mean it is acid... so I don’t know how else to say that. The result is clearer skin with less visible pores, and for me also a reduction in pimples.

Why do I like this one? Well it works for starters. And yes I use the accompanying cleanser and moisturiser as part of my routine. Sometimes I’m lazy/busy and just use a baby wipe for cleansing though.

I use the serum at night after cleansing, I skip it in the morning. That’s just what works for me, for others maybe they would only use it every couple of days, or maybe night n day.

Second reason I like this? Have you seen the price of exfoliating serums nowadays??? This one is affordable. It’s developed by an actual registered nurse too, so gives some reassurance regarding safety.

Can be bought from the Lite Nurse Shop online.

PS Don’t forget to moisturise if you use a serum! Your face will be all dry n freaked out if you don’t, and it will overcompensate by creating extra oil to fix the problem and then you’ll get pimples boooo!

whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-66815985530149300392020-12-27T12:53:00.005+11:002020-12-27T13:28:34.421+11:003 More Inches Pre Wash Treatment

Long time no blog.

3 More Inches Pre Wash Treatment - the more budget friendly version of hair “saving” than the holy grail that is Olaplex No.3.

Olaplex will set you back about $50AU for 100ml. 3 More is approximately $60AU for 500ml. Bonza you say! Well yes it is significantly cheaper but you will use more of it in each session. Don’t get me wrong it is still more value for money though.

So it’s called a pre wash treatment but I’d describe it more as a repairing hair mask. And boy does it repair!! I still get my hair permanently straightened (see my previous post from yesteryear) and although I no longer use any heat, I do have the remnants of VERY bleached ends from my platinum/pink days. (Side note, if I didn’t, I should write about that. Some awesome products found). I digress. So when you get your hair permanently straightened it is extremely damaging if your hair has already been through any processing. This means my pre-bleached ends became brittle and squiggly to that point where you wonder if you’re better off just cutting them off. Buuuuut wait! This is where Olaplex or 3More come in to save the day. Both of these products have worked equally well to smooth out the dead bits to beautiful hair again. How does it work? I have no idea, nor the time to research it. But it works and for that I say thank you very much!

Now some side notes for both of these products... leave them on as long as you can. I’m talking overnight. That’s how you get the best outcome. Particularly for 3 More. You want to use it every couple months when your hair starts to get ratty. And hot tip... don’t be stingy with 3 More. It says to drench your hair. DRENCH IT. You may think it’s a waste of product or if you use less it will go further, but the product needs to be slathered on to work, and even though you’re pumping away and it looks like a lot on your hair, you’ll be surprised at how long it takes you to finish the bottle.

So the take home message is to drench your hair with it and leave it on overnight. Don’t worry it won’t get on your pillow.

For Aussie’s, 3 More is available at Mecca.
whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-26878924582885596032016-06-14T17:01:00.000+10:002016-06-14T17:05:17.172+10:00Tips for travelling to JapanAs mentioned in my previous post, I recently visited Kyoto and Osaka in Japan, to visit my brother who lives in Osaka. I thought I'd jot down some quick tips for those who are visiting Japan for the first time.. just small things that may help you to familiarise with Japanese customs and general way of life.

CASH
Japan is more of a cash based place than credit card. Yes you can use credit card in some places, but the majority will likely be cash, so it's handy to figure out how you'll have enough cash on hand before you travel. Cash Passport (if your bank offers them) is a good option (minimal fees). Also not every ATM will work with foreign bank cards so an easy tip is to remember 7Elevens have foreign card friendly ATM's.

SAFETY
In general, Japan is a very safe place. Women can walk around at night unaccompanied and catch trains without worrying. It's really quite nice to see given we don't have that in a lot of cities. You should always be careful of course, but you will observe a lot more women out in groups at night. Crime is minimal in Japan also. There are very heavy penalties and the culture respects the law. You'll even see vending machines with beer and cigarettes available - those under age simply do not use them.

VENDING MACHINES
Segway from above - Vending machines are EVERYWHERE. Even in amongst apartment blocks. Coffee, tea, juice, ice cream.... it's all available. And as mentioned, you'll find beer, highballs and cigarettes in some as well. They are usually competitively priced also.

SHOES OFF PLEASE
In a lot of places you will be required to take off your shoes before entering. Shoes are considered quite dirty and are thus left out of certain areas. This can include dining, in change rooms... definitely in someone's house. Don't worry as you will either be instructed by your host, or you will see shoes lined up nicely before a step/mat or something. So maybe leave socks with holes at home haha.

HAND WIPES BEFORE MEALS
When you eat out, you will be provided with a moist towel before your meal. This is for cleansing your hands, and to be used throughout your meal when you need to wipe your hands. Again with the cleanliness - given you're out and about touching escalator rails, public transport etc, it's nice to cleanse the hands before a meal.

FACE MASKS (like a surgical mask)
You'll see people walking around everywhere wearing these. It's actually a very respectful altruistic action - they are ensuring that they do not get others sick. In Japan if you are unwell you wear a face mask to minimise the spread of your germs. It is very polite.

CATCHING THE TRAIN
Catching the train is a very polite affair, with everyone lining up at specific spots (they are marked) in two orderly lines. People rarely "push in", and they always wait for exiting passengers to hop off the train before entering. Whilst on the train, noise is kept to a minimum out of politeness to other passengers. (Note: the two lines is a bit different during peak time!)
Also - where there is bench-type seating, if there is space for another passenger to sit, everyone on the bench will shuffle along to ensure there is enough space.

PERSONAL SPACE
People in Japan seem very aware of personal space and rarely invade it. Unlike a lot of other countries, you won't often get bumped by another person, and if you do they are very apologetic. People usually leave an appropriate amount of space between themselves and others (again - this is different in peak hour!) on the train, on escalators... anywhere really.

TOILETS
You'll notice the toilets in public places/restaurants/shops/hotels etc generally have some additional options for cleansing, such as "bidet", "shower" and the polite "sound" to mask your toiletting noise. They often have instructions attached, so you will become familiar with them quickly. Also if there are slippers in the toilet, they are "toilet slippers" - not for wear out of the toilet! They stay in that zone only.

CHANGE ROOMS
As previously mentioned, you are often required to take your shoes off before entering a clothing change room. In addition, if you are trying on tops, you are asked to put on a 'face shield' which is a mesh face cover that stops any make-up etc staining the top that you are trying on.

HOTELS
Generally the hotels will provide you with amenities such as toothbrush/paste, razor, body wash, hand wash, shampoo/conditioner. Best to bring your own shower cap. The hotels also usually provide you with what looks like a big night gown shirt - a long buttoned up shirt for wear each evening - this is replaced each day similar to towels.
Hotels will ask you to hand your key in to reception every time you leave the room. This saves from housekeeping accidentally walking in when you are still in your room (and I'm sure has other purposes but that was the one that occurred to me). It also saves you from lugging the key around with you and potentially losing it.

TAX
When shopping, keep in mind that tax is not generally included in the advertised price. You will see the price + tax upon purchase.

PICTURES OF FOOD
A handy feature of most restaurants/food establishments is a very detailed set of pictures of each meal item you can order. Quite often there are also plastic fake versions that you can see too. This makes it so that there are no surprises and given the food is always beautifully prepared, you do get what you ordered :)

VISITING AN ONSEN (HOT SPRINGS)
This could probably be a whole post on it's own, but I'll just add a couple of tips here. Firstly - Japanese onsen's are separated by gender: because you bathe nude. Most places will have some kind of instructions for you beforehand but basically you go in to the area for your gender, pop your clothes into a locker (and wear the locker key around your wrist). Towels are provided and if you would like to be modest you can cover yourself by wrapping it around you or holding it lengthwise on the front of the body. Please note though that towels DO NOT GO IN TO THE BATHING WATER WITH YOU.
You then head to the bathing area (you'll see shampoo, body wash, little stools to sit on in individual bays). Pop your towel aside and give yourself a full scrub/shampoo/condition. There is usually toothbrush/paste and exfoliating cloths around as well if you want to use them.
After fully cleansing and rinsing yourself of soap, you can head in to the bathing areas/saunas. If you have long hair, tie it up so it isn't going all over the place in the water. As mentioned, don't let the towel go in the water. Either place it on the side of the pool area, or fold it and wear it on your head. Or wrap it around your hair.

PAYING FOR THINGS
Probably should have mentioned this next to cash/tax etc.. but anyway... when you are paying for something, there will be a little tray on the counter that you should put the money in to. It's usually flattish, just a bit bigger than the size of cash notes. You place your money/card/coins on there, the attendant picks it up and will hand you your change either back in to the dish, or in your hand. Basically you don't just pass cash from your hand to their hand.

That's all for now - I'll add some pictures and any more tips I think of later :) Hope you find this helpful.

So I recently (June 2016) went on a trip to Kyoto and Osaka in Japan, to visit my brother who is a permanent resident in Osaka.

Before leaving Australia, I googled the best apps to use in Japan if you can't speak Japanese. Whilst there I was able to determine which apps I found most useful, which I'll write about in this post.
Just a quick write up, not comprehensive - mostly because I had my brother with me most of the time to help out (eg. with trains). I will say that I did catch trains without the assistance of my brother, but it was when I already knew where the station was (it can be a maze), and what type of train line I was taking (there's 4... JR, Hankyu, Subway... another one... oh and the Shinkansen fast train but you aren't likely to just wonder on to that - it's more expensive).
Timing-wise... I didn't worry too much as I always planned to be places quite early, and I found that generally the trains ran every 10 minutes ON THE DOT. It's only later in the night that you can't rely on this kind of haphazard train catching.
So basically - I can't give you a full run down on the train-catching system. I did notice there are always people around to help though, and they wear badges that say "English" or armbands that say "Translator".

First things first - how to get internet over there without being charged a million dollars for data. I turned off all mobile data and instead relied on a portable wifi. Luckily my brother had a spare one for me to use, however you can book these online to pick up at the airport, or book at a stall in the airport. Otherwise, there is usually free wifi in shopping malls, airport, cafes, some hotels. I wanted to be certain that I had access to the internet so I could converse with my brother for meet up times etc. so the portable wifi was best for me.

Tip: Buy a powerbank before you go. I found this SO handy for being out the whole day. I got a 4000mah light powerbank from JB HiFi (can charge an iphone 5 fully - twice). I used it often - both to charge my phone (I used snapchat a lot to record my adventures), and to recharge the portable wifi. It was a lifesaver.

MOST USEFUL APPS:

GOOGLE TRANSLATE APP

So the most helpful app for me (as a keen shopper... and someone who likes to try new food/drink).

You can type in text, but the most use I got was by taking photos of signs or labels and having them translated. Very helpful for knowing what you are buying!! I used this app almost every day. From little things like "is this a leave in conditioner or a wash out"... to checking what signs said in restaurants... to checking the ingredients of certain foods. I can't praise this app enough, and I didn't even use it to it's full potential. I think you can also have Japanese words spoken back to you (as translated from your English. A bit like Voicetra app. I got that before I went but didn't need to use it as I was able to be understood using actions and a couple Japanese words).

I had originally downloaded a different app for this "Waygo" which was recommended in my google searches of other people's travels but it would only give me 10 photos a day for free and then it wanted me to pay. pfft. I found the Google app much better... AND FREE.

CURRENCY CONVERTER PLUS

I only really needed this for big items where I wanted "to be sure" how much I was spending. Otherwise I had a rough idea of the conversion in my head.
There's a thousand currency converting apps. I find this one quick and easy and I'll be honest - I like that the icon for it looks like the calculator icon on the iphone, so it looks nice and matching on my screen.

GOOGLE MAPS APP

Seems like an obvious one, but I thought I better mention it. It's very helpful to be able to "star" certain locations like your hotel so that you can make your way back there regardless of any language barriers. To do this, hold your finger down on your location until it comes up with a name/address at the bottom of the screen. Then click that address, and press "save" (it's a yellow star) - you'll then be able to refer back to it in the future.

That's it for now (sorry a very short post). I will be attempting to put up a post on Japanese shopping items soon.
The CC version!

What does CC mean? I don't even know. I could probably google it... but clearly I have not. Ok I did at some point when I first started looking into this but I've forgotten.

Ok so in reality... (I always start with "ok" don't I? Sorry!). Alright, so I got interested in looking at this product just cause I like trying new things. I love my current BB creme (also by Erborian) but this CC one was new and I was like ohhhh hello new product.

This does the same thing as the other one... but more! Ok I just assume it's more. Well for starters this cream is white and then it changes colour to suit your skin! Magicccccc

It has worked quite well for me but I don't know how well it matches with other people's skin colour. Ok I'm talking about people with more of a pink tinge rather than the yellow that I have... and that I imagine the majority of Korean people have (this product originates from Korea).

The CC creme works for me just like the BB, except I got it on special haha.

Ok no I guess it's different - I think it has a higher SPF, which is great, and.... I'm not really selling it am I. I feel a bit bad. It's touted as a superior product but I can't remember why. Hold on I best look it up. Ok so the main difference is that it matches to your skin tone.

I get the same effect as the BB cream but I can see how this would suit more people because the colours were somewhat limited for the BB range.
OH and this is REALLY GOOD FOR CHANGE OF SEASONS. I tend to tan up quite a bit in summer, even with sunscreen and everything... I just get dark. But when winter comes my skin goes really light again! So if I keep using my Dore it's suddenly too dark for my skin and looks a bit silly. So this is my WINTER cream :) Takes me through the transition as my skin gets lighter and lighter and lighter.

It's also good when I use self tanner on my face (to get it all even) and then want this for on top for daily wear.

So... yep a bit of an all over the place review there. The product is great, suits my skin, gives me coverage and yes it does actually confom to my skin colour.
I still love my BB cream in Dore, but this one is really good for change of season when my skin colour gets lighter.

Erborian is awesome.
I can't believe I haven't written a post about this product before.

I've been using it for years now - every day, and haven't found a superior product (but have wasted money trying).

Ok so what's a BB cream? It's "blemish balm" but basically it just means it's a cream that gives you a more solid base... it's like having a tan on your face. Which I actually recommend ~ self tanner on your face makes it so much easier for every day makeup. But anyway, I digress.

I wear this cream every day as it evens out my skin and hides pimples and under eye discolouration etc. And it has sunscreen in it, and it supposed to be like a moisturiser with other benefits for your skin. I don't use any other moisturiser so whatever it does seems to work for me.

I am pretty lazy and I don't like to wear full on foundation unless it's for an occasion where I feel like I need to put in more effort. Plus I don't really like wearing a "mask" of make up, a more natural look works better for me.

So on your average day, I put this BB cream on and then do eyeliner, blush whatever.. on top of it.

It comes in pretty much two skin colours, so it isn't for everyone. I use the Dore colour, which suits more of a yellow tone skin (I'm Eurasian). There's another colour that is more pink that would suit whiter skin, but given this is a Korean product.... keep in mind that they may not have been working that much with caucasian skin. Or maybe it's awesome.... I don't know, I just use my Dore.

So it pretty much just feels like moisturiser when you put it on, but it gives you some colour and evens you out. I have the issue that whenever I get a spot on my face (ok ok I squeeze pimples I can't help itttttttt).... it takes ages and ages to heal and I get this hyperpigmentation where I get a dark spot while it is healing (happens to a lot of asians). So this stuff helps it to be less obvious day to day without me needing to put a face full of make up on.
Sometimes I cover really prominent spots with some concealer and I just blend it in with the BB cream.

I've used some other BB's but they don't seem to last very long... they are more like an actual moisturiser they just sink in and a couple hours later my face looks like I just woke up :( The Erborian one lasts like a foundation does, it's just a bit sheerer/less coverage. I especially like it in summer because I always feel like my foundation is "melting" in summer haha. But with this it gives me the sheer coverage but doesn't kind of melt away. It makes me feel like I get a natural look but get to quietly hide some flaws!

It's not uber expensive (about $59 for a tube)... it lasts a long time to use up a tube. It's hard to get though (for me in Australia anyway). They used to stock it in Myer but they stopped. Now I have to buy it online. I think it's a lot more available in the UK.

I've also just started using the new CC creme that Erborian makes - I'll do an update on that next.

So in summary - if you like light coverage and want an easy sunscreen as well... this stuff is great. I wouldn't have kept using it for so many years if it didn't work.
You can also buy it in a 15 ml tube (the bigger one is 45ml) so that you have a travel size one :)whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-8668260377442848012015-09-22T13:05:00.001+10:002015-09-22T13:05:56.659+10:00OPI Crystal Nail File

Hello nail file of my dreams.

This lovely lady comes in a handy plastic tube so that you don't go snapping it and have to cry yourself to sleep over the loss of such an important tool.

I've written about crystal nail files before, but this is like the ultimate king of crystal nail files.

I buy these for pretty much everyone I know, they only retail at about $20 and they last foreverrrrr. I've even used one on my dog's nails. Don't cringe - his nails needed some love and he hates the nail clippers~!!!!

And I wouldn't misuse this nail file if I thought it would ruin it. I have about three of these (I like to have them at arms reach hehe). The "most used" one, I thought it was dead after a while as it didn't seem as abrasive - but I gave it a quick wash and a brush with a toothbrush and it is good as new! Hurrah!

So I have one that I use for filing/reshaping, another one I use for getting the top layer off my gel polish (I do my own gel nails at home... bought the OPI UV lamp online for too much money... but I'll tell you about that in a different post).

Those of you who haven't tried gel or haven't taken it off yourself - you need to file off the top layer to allow the remover to get in there to do its job. This means that your nail file has to work pretty hard and can get a lot of build up on it.

OPI nail file is all like "whatever this is a piece of cake".

It's also really handy for cleaining under your nails.

None of mine have broken yet (probably because I store them in the plastic tube).

I had a friend that has used crystal nail files before who said she didn't need one when I told her about it... I bought it for her anyway. Two days later "oh my god this IS A NAIL FILE".

First things first - I don't use moisturiser *gasp*! or night cream *double gasp!* *blasphemy!*

The thing is, my skin is I guess semi oily? I'm eurasian if that gives an idea of skin type. So any moisturiser I've used has made me break out with pimples. And my face doesn't really feel dry ever (and yes I know the creams are for more than dryness).

Basically, I feel as though I get my moisturising needs met by using my Erborian BB or CC cremes and I don't really require anything more (and if I try to, I break out).

But then I met this cream. I only use the tiniest bit at night, and I don't use it every night, but oh my god my face feels so nice the next day! Very baby soft. And no break outs (as long as I keep to not using it every night. Or if my skin feels particularly oily I don't use it. But this has to be the first product that A. Hasn't had a negative effect on my skin and B. Actually feels like it has done something good for my skin.

Oh and before you poo poo me - I've tried other products over time as well (in case my skin needed to adapt). No go.

Now I don't know whether the stem cells that this product promotes are actually making any difference to my skin in regards to making me look younger or whatever, but it certainly feels like my skin is better in the morning. I look kind of "glowing" without being pregnant ;)

This stuff is expensive, so before buying the actual bottle I read a fair few reviews - it sounds like maybe it is a newish product as there wasn't a whole heap of reviews out there. I did however find a really good one that was very objective. I'm really sorry but I couldn't find it again when I tried to re-google it but I'll summarise. Basically the guy (I think?) had researched the company and was looking at it from a scientific perspective, which makes sense given the claims of this product regarding stem cells.
So the company actually predominantly works with stem cells (as in cosmetics are not their main thing - the science and research with the human body is their actual priority). But it sounds like someone came along and said hey you could probably get more funds if you thought about what else this could be used for.
And voila they started this side company for the cosmetics.
Who knows, maybe they dump in all the stem cells they can't use for the high end scientific research. Anyways the point is, the reviewer couldn't find any solid evidence as to why the stem cells would be good in your face cream - basically he was implying that the company doesn't really care too much about explaining to us exactly how the stem cells would work in this topical form.... they are probably focussed on saving lives or something eh?
But the point he made was that he couldn't find any information to disprove that it works. So on benefit of the doubt - the stem cells could make a difference.

For me, I was just happy that this cream made my face skin all babbbbby soft. And less pimples, which for me as a grown adult... is a nice change haha.

So I would suggest getting your hands on a sample of this to try it out. Don't go buying the full bottle straight away, it's expensive and what if it doesn't work for you? I think you can buy the samples online on ebay or you can maybe get them from the lifeline website (if you live in the US).

I kind of like that the product I'm buying is associated with real 'make a difference' scientific research too. I'm guessing your standard Loreal's and such probably contribute to research as well, but this just seems a bit closer to it.
I could of course be wrong about that association... but hey. Baby smooth cheeks.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-7470939250554617932015-09-22T12:13:00.001+10:002015-09-22T12:42:47.176+10:00Contact lenses - normal ones!Ok so I now wear contact lenses as my short sightedness got worse and I was wearing my glasses every day but it got annoying.
I got sick of my glasses fogging up when I eat soup. Or (and this probably doesn't happen to everyone...) getting sweaty on my face where my glasses are. I always get sweaty there when I'm nervous. And it doesn't really add to my 'cool girl chic' when I'm wiping away sweat from under my glasses.

And the main logical reason - I'm going in to a new profession (nursing) and I became really aware of how often I touch my glasses, and it just seemed cumbersome and unhygienic.

I wanted to get laser eye surgery but when I researched it I read that your eyes need to have stabilised. Mine were still getting worse so I didn't think I'd be a candidate.

Contacts it is!

So I went to my optometrist and they did all their measuring and such and then gave me a trial set (I think they normally test you out on whether you can put them in and take them out, but I told them I had tried the freshlook lenses before so I was ok with that).

I chose monthly lenses - I wanted the ones that were "the best for my eye health" and these seemed the best option. It felt too wasteful or something to get daily ones that you chuck out every time, and I figured that would have been better if I wasn't wearing them every day. But for every day... Monthly ones seemed better.

Ok so for me, putting them in was pretty ok. I don't have an issue with touching my eye balls. I thought about the technique I use - I look in the mirror, hold my eyelids open with one hand, and try to put the contact right in the middle of my eye ball with the other hand. Then I kind of let it settle on to the eye (it magically finds it's own way into the right spot on the iris) and then I slowly let my eyelids back over it. Sometimes there's an air bubble under it but when you blink a couple of times it goes away.
Sometimes my eye lid catches on the side of it and knocks it out and I have to try again.

Oh and I use hand sanitiser beforehand, but I let it dry on my fingers so I'm not putting that directly on my eye (I reckon that would sting).

I don't look at the approaching finger with the contact lense on it either - I'm looking in the mirror at my hand, aiming it. It's like I kind of shut off the sight of the eye that is actually receiving the contact.

Initially I had issues with whether the contact was inside out or not. So annoying, I just couldn't really tell. I read on the net about it, people saying right way up is like a "bowl" and wrong way is like a "saucer". I can see that now, but at the time, the difference between the bowl and the saucer was nothingggggg.

They are right though, when it's wrong way it's like the edges are a bit flatter out, and when it's right way the edges look more like they want to curl inwards like a ball.

Now I can tell more from the fact that it feels uncomfortable if it's in the wrong way. And that's another thing - I didn't know what "feeling uncomfortable" meant, because wearing them AT ALL felt "uncomfortable" because it was just not natural feeling.
Now I'd describe uncomfortable as kind of tired? Like a dull ache. And I think that's when your eye balls are dry. I bought drops to put in every now and then - they are compatible with the contacts and just alleviate that feeling a tad.
The other thing that I would call "uncomfortable" is the easier one to notice - like if you have dust in your eye and it's just irritating. That's when you know something isn't quite right. I usually take them out, rinse them with solution and try putting them in again.

I have a friend that tried contacts ages ago but just could never get them in or out (when he was at the optomestrist). If this happens to you I suggest asking them for the trial pair and trying at home. I found it way easier to get them in when I was by myself with no pressure. Sure the first time my eyes were watering like crazy (ok for the first week this happened!) but I kept trying and eventually got used to it.

Oh and how is your eye sight when you wear contacts compared to glasses? AMAZING. I felt like superman. Everything was so clear, like everywherrrrre. That sounds silly but with the contacts on it's your entire field of vision, not just the bits within that frame of glasses. And boy do I notice that frame now when I wear glasses instead of contacts. I've only been wearing my big frames because I find the smaller frames uber annoying now after wearing contacts.

So yay for contacts! Definitely recommended.

Keep em clean though - make sure you change the solution they are in, and change your contact case maybe every time you start a new bottle of solution? (they usually come with a free case anyway).

Don't rinse them in water, even if you are desperate.

I had to stay at a mates house as an emergency to look after her little girl and didn't have my contact solution or case.... I ended up putting them in a water bottle lid, filled with my eye drops. Wasn't ideal but it was better than nothing!

After that I went on to ebay and bought some emergency contact boxes - they were about $1.50 and they are a small plastic square box with a small contact case inside and a little bottle for solution, and it has a mirror. This way whenever I have an emergency I have a storage case, solution and a mirror.

Freshlook ColorBlends - Coloured Contacts

I just tried these for the first time a month or so ago for a fancy dress party. Awesome! I got the Sterling Grey colour after checking out some recs online with pictures from other people. It gives a nice blue colour, not too bright...

Ok so the pupil doesn't look quite as good as in the photos here - it's actually bigger than your pupil, so a tiny bit of your own colour comes out. But it's not so bad that it's easily noticeable.

Put them in before you do your eye makeup. Actually put them in before you put ANY makeup on. The first time I put them in my eyes teared up heaps. Took me AGES to get them in. I've had them in twice now and it was heaps better the second time. I think you just get the hang of the right technique of getting them flat on your eyeball.

When they're in... they do feel a bit weird for a while, bit like you've got dust in your eye. But you get used to it pretty quickly. Also, when it moves on your eyeball you kind of get semi blurry patches of eyesight. Not anything too bad at all, just a bit of fuzz. Definitely manageable.

I love these. I bought mine from www.quicklens.com.au

I just ordered Green and Gemstone Green. :)

Additional note 22/09/2015 - I now wear contact lenses dailyas my eye sight deteriorated and I wanted to add some important notes on this one.
First thing - You can actually go to your local optometrist to get a sample one of these and to get fitted properly. We all have different shaped eye balls and although the contacts are made to suit as many people as possible - they might not fit you (and if that is the case it's kind of uncomfortable to have them in and they move around too much).
Also - if you have daily ones, one wear etc - don't try to stretch it out longer (it's really not healthy for your eyes). And don't sleep in them! Your eyes need oxygen and having that contact lense over it doesn't allow as much to get in (particularly the coloured ones as they have more coating). I know they make some contact lenses that you can wear overnight but the freshlooks are not made like that.

Oh and clean your hands before you handle the lenses or put them in your eyes.

Can you tell I'm older now? yeh. haha sorry.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-63921136315387315442012-09-02T19:23:00.001+10:002015-09-22T12:39:32.845+10:00De Lorenzo Instant Rejuven8

My mate got me onto this set with a recommendation for the conditioner. It's good. Really good. I ended up buying the whole pack - of the pictured ones, I've used the shampoo, conditioner and 'the ends' treatment - the other two nope. So would I recommend this product? Hell yeh. The conditioner is amazing. I never looked into the ingredients for the whole paraben blah blah but it works really well, leaves your hair in lovely silky condition, and it smells nice too. The ends treatment - ok I've been using it but you can't really always tell with those kind of things whether they are actually achieving what they claim they will.

So far - it feels good on, so it's made it into my weekly set - I go between that one and an Aveda repair one that I'll talk about later. They both seem about the same but the De Lorenzo one is cheaper.

I'll be honest, the fact that they have an '8' in the title made me think 'lame'. But this stuff is good. The shampoo is good too. I think there's a fair chance this set will make it into my 'reliables' set. You can also get it pretty well priced as a set from places like Hairhouse Warehouse etc.

Apologies.

Kind of crap as it's been so long that I can't remember much of the detail. So I'll nutshell it. Basically - there was a second anaesthetic cream that the woman "forgot" about the first time (yeh thanks...). This cream... was AMAZING. Couldn't feel any pain when it was on. So she touched up top and bottom lids... I think I mentioned previously that it's a LOT for your eyes to take so getting both done is a bit too much. This was just a touch up, but my eyes were so swollen I could barely keep them open to see!

It took a day or two for the swelling to go down (and they felt tight and somewhat painful during that time)... then the same process began with the bits and pieces of scab coming off etc.

In summary - given I've had them for a while now - I'm glad I got it done but yes it was painful. I think if the place I went to was more experienced it wouldn't have been so bad...
BUT - I really like having them done. On weekends I generally go no makeup but still feel a little more 'done' due to the eyeliner. You get used to it very quickly too and I can't really remember what I looked like before!

Day to day - I don't use eyeliner at all unless I'm going for a specific look. Eg. I don't have the cats eyes type effect done with the tattoo, that's something I would draw in.

UPDATE (22/9/2015) - so my eyeliner is GONE now. From natural day to day washing etc, it's just worn away. And that doesn't make sense with the whole idea that it's a permanent tattoo, but that's what happens with areas like face/hands/feet that get washed often etc.
I think also I didn't go to the most experienced place for gettting this done and I think other places probably could have done a better, longer lasting job.
My mum still has hers, but hers was much thicker than mine.

Would I do it again? Yes. But I'd be more careful who I went to.

Oh and also I think my eye shape has sort of changed with age, which isn't necessarily a problem, but now when I do my eyeliner I do it differently on each eye (because one eye is noticeably bigger than the other.... I think anyway!).whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-88741858315167365082011-07-06T12:09:00.003+10:002011-07-06T12:59:32.967+10:00Permanent Eyeliner - Part 1 - Lower Lid Ok.... so permanent makeup. (that is not my eye pictured!).

I have now had top and bottom eyelid eyeliner done. So a couple of comments first up for basic info:

- At the place that I went to, they only do it in black (which makes sense now that it's done as there's a fair bit of fade)
- They don't use the same tattoo gun(?) pen(?) thing that they use for normal tattoos
- I don't know that they get heaps of training before they start working on people
- Don't do top and bottom on the same day...in fact I challenge you to attempt it because it's almost impossible (your eyes just can't take it)

Alright so where to start. I originally went in thinking I'd get my eyebrows done too, but I soon decided against this when she drew them on and suddenly I had no other facial features except eyebrows. They were just way too perfect and way too obvious. Just not how I roll.

The reason i thought to get the permanent makeup done is... well you already know I like trying new stuff. You also probably have figured I'm pretty keen on stuff that saves time (laser hair removal, permanent hair straightening)...kind of a natural progression. I also have 3 traditional (usual) tattoos, so there was no fear for me in regards to getting something tattooed.

Also - my Mum has the eyebrows done (she had them done in Malaysia) and she's very happy with them.

I've just moved to Melbourne and I did some googling for places that do the permanent makeup(NB. In Australia it has to be called "semi-permanent makeup" - they can't use the term "permanent" because it does fade and apparently that gives a false impression to the consumer). So I googled about and found a chain that does it. I would normally avoid a chain, but, and this is not a race thing, just a "what I know".... I would have normally tended toward an asian establishment to do it... but as mentioned - new to the city so wasn't really "in the know". So the chain had good info on their website and from what I had researched thus far, seemed to have the right kind of writeup. Check it at www.essentialbeauty.com.au

Ok so from there I just picked a place nearby... yada yada.

Pricing - varies a bit, but it's generally going to cost you at least $200. At this place it was $295 for just the lower lid, if you got both lower and upper it was $395... I think... argh sorry I downloaded two $50 off vouchers (one for Mum, one fro me) so I got a $100 discount. Anyway, somewhere in the $300 - $500 range.

So I had two sessions, two weeks apart, I'll start with the first session...

When I got in there, she popped a white anaesthetic cream on my lower lid. Has to stay on for 30 mins. Didn't go that well for me as my eyes would NOT stop watering. Mum and I had to hold bits of my face taught so I couldn't close my eyes (once I closed them the cream would go in my eye and sting). So 30 mins of holding my face. Good times.

Then she starts tattooing - now if you've had a tattoo, you know the sound of a normal tattoo pen thingy. This had exactly the same sound... high pitched 'eeeeeeeeeeee'

So she puts some ink on her glove and basically dips the needle into the ink and then tattoos it on your eyelid - I watched when she did Mum's eyes - she worked in small strokes. So lots of small strokes along the eyelid, then moves to the other eye, then back, then to the other, then back.... etc. She needs to go over it about 4 to 5 times to get good colour and coverage.

The first round was fine, I could feel it, but no pain. So kind of like scratching, pulling a bit, but no pain. I thought "easy peasy". Oh I forgot to mention both Mum and I took two panadol beforehand as well.

Second round - umm ok it's starting to hurt. Bearable, but I was thinking "I'm not sure if I can do 4 rounds....". I started to tense up at this point. Oh and even though I was supposed to keep my eyes open, I totally couldn't (just cause, well, something near my eye? My eye is going to close). The girl said that was okay though, she could still do it. Alright she wasn't really a girl, I should really refer to her as the "lady" but it seems nicer to call her the "girl".
Anyway...
Okay so I was feeling pain. Imagine umm ok it wasn't burning, it was... PAIN. I guess think of if you had a small cut on your finger and you keep brushing something on it. That kind of pain on an already pained area? Stinging pain, stinging, semi-sharp pain.

Third round. I'm starting to mentally sweat. Before she even starts I'm saying "I'm not sure how I'm going to go here". I suck it up and try to breathe my way through it. It HURTS. Goddamn it hurts. I mean it REALLY really hurts. My eyes teared up throughout the entire process, but in this round, as my Mum described it, I was "really crying from the pain".

After the third round I sat up and said "yep I can't do any more".

Mum went next and she was a bit tougher than me - she went 4 rounds. Her lids seemed to bleed a bit (the girl just wiped it away each time). Mine didn't really bleed.

When done, the girl popped some bepanthen (see my other post on this miracle item) on our eyes, and we were on our way. Pain after leaving? No. Swelling? Mum had a little, I had not really much.

Afterwards:

So you put bepanthen on it and try to keep it dry... I topped up with bepanthen every now and then... probably every couple hours I suppose, or just when i woke up and when I went to bed. When the tattoo is "fresh" it's very dark black. It just looks like you've put on liquid eyeliner. And it's a bit shiny from the bepanthen, but you can certainly be out in public without concern.

They say your eyes might feel gritty and dry.... I didn't have this in the first round. Didn't really feel anything different.

I had it done on a Friday morning, the scab came off on Monday morning. I was putting bepanthen on with a cotton bud and on the Monday morning the bud had all these little black bits on it (the scab) and I could see what the actual tattoo looked like - it was WAY lighter than the liquid eyeliner look that I had just after getting it done. Much thinner too. The girl had mentioned that we would need to come back in two weeks for a touch up. I originally thought "pfft no I won't", but it was clear that I would (plus I needed to come back to do the upper eyelid anyway).

After the scab came off - business as usual. I did already like the way it looked, but definitely wanted a touch up. But no further care or concern was necessary, my eyes were as normal.

Next: Part 2 - Upper Lid & Touch Up of Lower Lid.....

Stay tuned..... (PS Part 2 was a VERY different experience.... mostly due to the addition of another anaesthetic cream....)whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-23037889108972003652011-06-25T22:31:00.003+10:002011-06-25T22:37:13.319+10:00Permanent makeup / Cosmetic tattoo
I'm currently getting eyeliner (top and bottom lid) done, so an update on the process is "coming soon".

Thus far I've had the lower lid done.... as a quick summary:

Very happy with the results but goddamn it hurt! I've never actually found a masque that literally did that before. It's green, and yep minty obviously... it's quite nice to put on, refreshing and it doesn't have that horrible chemical smell. You pop it on for 15 mins then wipe off.

Easy.

The bonus? It costs like $US3.50!!!!! Wow. I ordered mine from Vitacost online. Pretty cheap postage too.

I also bought the Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub (right) - same price, and it's lovely. Nice amount of grainyness - I don't normally use a face scrub on my lips, but I now use this one every day. It doesn't tear them up, it's gentle and it feels really nice with the cool mint in it. Seems to work better than other scrubs I've used too.
Very happy with it!

I jump in the shower, splash the warm water on my face and a couple minutes later I use the scrub (I like to let the warm water open my pores up a bit first). Then I follow with a cleanser.

Now... if you're gonna buy stuff internationally and pay postage... well... you may as well buy a bit more.
So - I got the Grape Seed Extract Peel Off Masque as well.

It's great! I use this one once or twice a week - it's really handy because after you put it on, you don't need water/bathroom etc. I often put it on at night before bed.
It starts to tighten up on your face and you can tell when it's ready to peel off. And then that's it. You peel it off, chuck it in the bin. You're done. No need to wash your face etc.

Handy :) Oh and yep.... same cheap cheap pricing. The only note I would make with this one is that it doesn't smell as nice as the mint julep range. Oh and you look pretty weird with it on! Like a mannequin.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-32824728472185609492011-03-17T22:50:00.004+11:002011-03-17T23:00:14.343+11:00Sebastian Laminates Sebastian laminates - oh how I love you.

This is my "go to" shampoo. It's amazing. I always like to keep two different types of shampoo on hand as my hair randomly becomes somewhat immune if I just use one, and laminates is one that I always have available.

It's hard to describe why it's so awesome - your hair feels so clean, but it doesn't have that "too clean" feeling where it feels kind of hard? That sounds crazy but you know the feeling - like if you washed your hair with just soap - that feeling. Okay so it does not do that. It's so the opposite. I think it's the only shampoo I've ever used that I wouldn't be horrified if I didn't have a conditioner at hand as a follow up.

It also seems somehow to keep the hair cleaner for longer. Here is one I found.

My bestie gave me the 'Ends Therapy with Argan Oil" (right). Now my hair is fairly fragile - it's been permanently straightened AND I am a regular lap swimmer so it cops chlorine regularly. But HELLO aromas - when I wash my hair and pop through the ends therapy - I don't even have to straighten my hair it just sits perfectly. No crinkly dry bits, no flyaways... and it feels beautiful. I love it.

So I decided to get the rest of the range, including the intensive treatment bath (above left) - I usually use Kerastase Masquintense as my treatment, but this is just as good, smells BEAUTIFUL, and it is HALF THE PRICE. Boo yah.

The other product I got is the oil (below). I don't want to carry the tube of ends therapy to the pool with me (I like to pretend I'm not high maintenance) so the small bottle of oil is perfect sized. Works a charm.

So it's a product line that smells beautiful, is very reasonably priced, and WORKS. And it works really really well. That argan / moroccan oil - it's magic!

So I was looking into how to regrow them or stimulate growth.

Consensus is... as with any hair growth... MASSAGE. Massaging the follicles helps stimulate your hair to grow. Brushing your hair is massage on your scalp as well, so that helps in the process.

The second, and combined option, was to put Castor Oil on your brows each night.

So that's what I've been doing.

Kind of rubbing them when I can... not too hard don't want them to fall out... and applying the castor oil with a cotton bud each night.
It's supposed to thicken them up too, as in the strands.

Ok so I've only been doing it for about a week and a half... I suspect that may not be long enough to see much improvement. But I swear it's working!!!!! I seem to have a lot more little hairs coming out where I used to have nothing.
As for the thickening... I'm not really sure. Maybe?

I'll keep trying this for a couple more weeks and pop an update in. So far so good! I think it will be more of an indicator when I get past the 8 week mark as that is the lifecycle of hair growth....

Fingers crossed!
whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-65475797770665721392011-02-01T16:38:00.005+11:002011-02-01T16:55:07.547+11:00Oil Cleansing Method The Oil Cleansing Method... sometimes referred to as OCM... basically rubbing oil over your face and somehow it's a cleanse.

I know what you're thinking - how does that cleanse and surely that just pimples up your whole face.

Surprisingly no. It's supposed to be really great for blackheads and for making your face all soft and lush.

Does it? Well I don't really know. hahaha. Ok so I went to buy the oil - I read up on so many sites about what oils to get... castor oil seemed a main ingredient... but also Jojoba, grapeseed. So I planned to go and get the two main ones - castor oil and jojoba.

Castor oil I could get easily from the chemist... I think it was between $7 to $10? Maybe even a little more. Then when I went to get Jojoba oil from a health food store it was bloody expensive. Like $22 or something for a tiny bottle. So I looked around and found the Moo Goo one, which combines both of these, with a couple of the others that were in my "would be good to have but way too much effort to try to get them all" such as avocado oil and ricebran oil.

MooGoo one was I think somewhere between $20/$30? Could have even been less, I can't remember, but it was clearly just cheaper and easier for me to get that one rather than buy the rest separately and try to mix it up myself... and find something to put it in yada yada.

Ok so what you do is basically rub it all over your face (rub firmly on the blackhead areas) and then steam it for a bit... when I first started I did the sink full of hot water with a towel over my head... or else I used a hot face cloth on my face.... Now I'm quite lazy so I put it on for a while, then turn the shower on hot (before I get in), don't have the fan on... then switch it to normal heat to get in and let all the steam surround me. It's probably not as effective but yeh.. it's certainly easier.

Does it work.... again.... I don't really know. I didn't see any of the miraculous things other people mentioned, like "omg zero pores now" or "wow I could see the blackheads just come out". For me - yep I did definitely see that it cleansed my face better than normal cleanser. So that's a plus. I did also notice that if I didn't do it for a while... my face would go back to how it was.

So I guess it DOES work. But a couple of things to note. Don't do it every day... maybe once a week. Otherwise you get those really deeeeeeep painful pimples. No no no.
Also - it's not a miracle cream so don't expect too much.

Have I sold it to you? Probably not. hahaha Ok final word is yes it does cleanse your face quite well, and yes it does soften up your face, but no it is not a miracle cream.

I'll let you decide for yourself.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-248839947156763872010-11-09T15:47:00.002+11:002010-11-09T15:54:20.910+11:00Crystal Nail FilesCrystal nail files - they're awesome.

You can buy these babies at jewellers and at chemists and random stores.

They tend to cost between $10 to $20 and are worth the price because you never have to replace them (unless you break it or something - note: Don't try to use the tip as a screw driver as it snaps - I have learnt this).

Sometimes they come with colouring like those in the picture, sometimes with hand painting. They're a really nice gift too.

They work extremely well and the joy is that you don't have to replace or sharpen or anything, saves you from continually buying a new nail file when yours is "flat".

Highly recommended.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-34509401431609257252010-08-06T12:30:00.010+10:002010-08-06T13:16:27.546+10:00Solarium Solarium.

Already some of you are thinking 'um NO.'

And you're absolutely right, but... it's something I've tried and maybe a little bit of you is curious, so I'll write about it... with my head hanging in shame.

So I was curious. There's something dangerous about the solarium (massive understatement) but there's also something about the danger that makes it appealing.

Sometimes I used to go as a bit of an "I'm angry at myself - take that body!". Or perhaps that was just my excuse to go.

I had one summer of super tanned-up-ness. Yep I'll admit, I liked how I looked. But realism came into play and I stopped going.

What's it like? Well you find your local place, make a call, appointment booked. Easy peasy. Plus it's really cheap which is a concern. One session is like $15.

So when I first went I spoke to the counter person about it... I said it was my first time etc.

She suggested that I go to one of the lie down ones. They have levels - the rooms at this place were labelled with numbers.

So I went to room 1 which is the least one.

You go in, lock the door behind you, strip off to whatever you are comfy ( I went nekked - if I was gonna do it I may as well go the whole way). Then you pop on the glasses thingy's (picture at top).

If you want to, you can buy some cream stuff that makes you tan easier. Your choice there. It's definitely not a sunscreen or anything. And really - you're going to the solarium... it would be a bit silly to wear sunscreen... (mind you while saying that I feel really really stupid).

Ok so you're nekked, goggles on, door locked, you lie in the tube thing. Now there's always those horror movies that have people getting locked into the tube and fried. That doesn't happen. They have an automatic switch off after like 10 or 15 mins, so even if someone buckled you in there, you'd just be lying in a dark tube. boo hoo.

So I think I had to press a button to start it, then you climb in with your goggles on and you just lie there til it switches off. Then you get up, give the thing a spray and a wipe with the provided implements, pop your clothes on, go out and pay.

Right so the procedure itself is pretty straightforward. When you take off the goggles and look in the mirror sometimes you look a bit splotchy but it's just your eyes adjusting.

When you leave... to be honest it feels like you've been sitting in a microwave. Your body feels all unnaturally warm. And not like "sitting by a heater" warm. It's weird but not painful or anything.

Ok so I did that first session and all was okay. Went home, saw a bit of a tan develop over that day and the next couple.

But of course. It wasn't enough.

So next time I went again and went in the same room, but I think this time I went for a bit of a longer time. I think it switched off but I switched it on again... which is not like a big no no... it's a personal choice.

Oh and I should mention at this point that the chick I talked to recommended coming every week an a half HAHAHAHAAH I was like "ohhh ok" thinking "wow you're crazy why don't you just inject me with cancer now"

Anyway, so I went the next time... couple weeks after the first. Did the extra time.

Sigh.

I got SO burnt. Between my boobs was a crisp... I peeled. My butt..... oh my poor bum. It was stripey. HAHAHA. Yes literally stripey. See the lie down beds - they kind of have these waves to them - thus the stripes.

So I had stripe burn on my bum :( Oh the shame. Lucky the only person that saw that was my boyfriend, who of course had a chuckle, but also did the "well it kind of serves your right". Deserved.

So that was not a pleasant experience. Plus it hurt to sit down. I admit it!!!!!
Oh and if you've ever been burnt really badly on your cleavage... that really hurts. :(

I felt so stupid.

But I went back.

After I healed of course. But this time I put sunscreen on my cleavage hahahahah. Oh and I also purposely made sure that I moved around a bit in the tube so I wouldnt' be a zebra.
All was well.

Then I discovered the standing one (as pictured).

Ohhh goody.

So the standing one is basically an upright coffin but more spacey. Sorry I couldn't think of any other way of describing it, and since it's a solarium I'm discussing here.... it kind of is a coffin isn't it?

I digress.

So the standing one has benefits. For starters - no stripey-ness. With this one you walk in, close the door (don't worry it doesn't lock, it kind of doesn't really even close if that makes sense? No it doesn't... ok so you pull it shut but it doesn't click or anything).

So no stripey. You stand in there with your arms up, so your armpits get done too. Also in the tube you tend to not be so tanned on your sides because the rays are coming from above and below. With the standing one you can move around to ensure full coverage... plus it has sides, so you are fully covered.

Also - it's kind of nice to have the freedom to move a bit more.

Umm this one is stronger though. I would stand in there and have sweat dripping off me. But it was "worth it" sweat.

The stand up booth became my favourite. Plus not as many people seemed to like it, so I could always book in.

I no longer got burnt... I even started using the stuff that helps the tan along (even in a tanning booth your legs often still refuse to tan).

So as I said, I was looking beautifully tanned. Go me. And I wasn't needing to mess around with sprays every couple of days. yay for me.

BUT.

What can I say? I'm not a stupid girl. I knew it was really bad for me - and that feeling of being microwaved when you leave? You just 'know' it's not right.

It just isn't worth it.

I couldn't continue to go knowing what I was doing to myself. And I also knew that I was becoming a bit hooked. I also became so tanned that it was starting to get to that "over the top" look.

It just wasn't right. There's no other way of saying it.

So I'm saying to you - even if you read this and think 'oh hey it's kind of easy and has results'. It's just not right.

Give it a try if you want to, just know that you're intelligent and an intelligent person makes intelligent decisions.

Go buy a spraytan.

PS you'd be amazed by how many GUYS go to the solarium. Just putting that out there.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-30110429191589133662010-08-06T12:21:00.008+10:002010-08-06T13:17:16.677+10:00Arriving pimple, leaving pimple.... Ella Bache Creme Intex no.2 A friend of mine put me on to this one.

It doesn't look like an "acne cream" and nothing about it says that it is, but it really does work well.

What it does is basically calm down the skin without drying it out like most acne creams do. With a general acne cream you get it drying out that specific spot but also affecting the skin directly around it, which means in most cases you end up with more of a scar, which takes longer to heal, and you have to wait til it's been completely dried out before you start to repair it.

This one basically stops the pimple bit from growing and seems to let your own skin deal with that bit. That's sounds a bit fluffy I admit.

Well I pop it on when I can feel a pimple is there, and generally it never comes up.

In cases where it has already come up and I couldn't resist a squeeze... oh wait... read that as I was in front of the mirror and my fingers 'accidentally' fell around the pimple and it popped. Cause of course I would never break the rules and squeeze on purpose.

Anyways - this is where this cream is the best. If it has already popped it calms the whole area, seems to get rid of the pimple bit, but at the same time heals the whole thing in much quicker time. And your face doesn't feel horribly dry or as if it's been through some nuclear experiment just on that one poor spot.

Give it a go, I find it works.whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-48206981569289743412010-07-31T20:39:00.002+10:002010-07-31T20:47:54.453+10:00H'suan Wen Hua - Lush Hair MoisturiserCool so I'm sure you all know of Lush natural products.

This is the "H'suan Wen Hua" hair moisturiser.

It's not tooooo exy and it's not bad.

It's no kerastase masquintense, but it's pretty ok.

Only issue I have with this one is that it has a weird smell!! And the smell kind of lingers even after you have rinsed it, shampooed and re-conditioned. So that's somewhat of a problem. It smells kind of like what you would expect someone to say is an "oriental" smell. Haha sorry I say that extremely sarcastically.

How to describe it... Kind of spicey, little bit joss stick (traditonal incense - like what a temple smells like).

Anyway it's not the usual fruity or perfumey smell that you expect from your hair so be warned.

But again - the product is okay and the price is quite alright and if knowing it's all organic hand made blah blah does it for you - then give it a go.
whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-4634782346390337442010-07-31T20:33:00.004+10:002010-07-31T20:39:18.141+10:00James Brown Intensive Moisture Mask hair treatmentSo firstly - sorry for using an image clearly from someone's website. Oops. It was the only one I could find (ok I didn't really look very hard).

So 'James Brown Intensive Moisture Mask'.

They have just started selling this at Priceline and it has a really well written blurb thing on the tube that makes it sound awesome. Blah blah something about working with the stars and having mastered hair and putting heaps of effort into it blah blah.

This product achieves less than a normal conditioner. It's rubbish so please don't waste your money.

Really.

Waste of money.
whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7810308856216137044.post-73393678188180437552010-07-31T20:25:00.004+10:002010-07-31T20:32:33.434+10:00Kerastase Masquintense Hair TreatmentI've tried many many hair treatments and this one is still the absolute best.

Slather it on, leave it as long as you want, and your hair feels like silk.

It's also been particularly amazing since I've had my hair permanently straightened.

You can't go past it and it's the one I would recommend to anyone.

Only thing that sucks about this is that it costs like $60.

It's worth it.
whatamitryingnowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00586633403921261173noreply@blogger.com0
